He’d go down to experience the scene and hear what new music was being played. Upon graduation, he moved to New York and his path in the music industry took off.
DJ Gomi’s first job in New York was at the renowned D & D Studio working with the artists recording there with the mix downs, programming, and arrangements. It was there, Gomi’s work got international exposure without needing to leave New York, as other artist in industry from around the world came to hear the music at the Factory. He collaborated with Junior in remixes and original works. From that point forward, his talent in production and composition made people in the industry take notice. An impressive list of musical artists throughout the world continue to invite him to either produce their music or provide them dance remixes – these include Beyonce, Janet Jackson, Madonna, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and Rupaul. His crowning achievement was producing and remixing Seasons of Love (from the musical, Rent) which became an instant dance-floor classic. Even today, he has a full schedule of work from people who need his services and still finding time to collaborate with other to produce original work..
Beyond production, he was responsible for coming up with the jog wheel idea when working with Pioneer in the early days of digital DJ equipment. He also helped get their product out for DJs to try. He also worked with Roland in the development of the AIRA line and the TR-8.
